Peugeot is looking to build a new Le Mans Hypercar to solidify its commitment to the World Endurance Championship in the long term. Discussions have already begun with the rulemakers about potential designs to replace the previous 9X8 model that underwent significant upgrades in the previous season.
The new Hypercar, anticipated for a debut around 2027, aligns with Peugeot’s pledge to stay in the WEC’s Hypercar class for the foreseeable future, as highlighted by the Stellantis group leadership.
The CEO of Peugeot, Alain Favey, emphasized the brand’s dedication to WEC on a long-term basis, with support from the Stellantis group’s motorsport boss Jean-Marc Finot, confirming commitments until 2026.
Peugeot aims for gradual progress and ultimate success in the championship, leveraging their storied history in endurance racing, including multiple Le Mans victories.
While performance gains are ongoing with the current 9X8 model, discussions revolve around potential future developments in line with evolving regulations in the Hypercar category.
The brand’s focus remains on showcasing its strength over time and pursuing excellence in endurance racing, with potential announcements regarding extended regulations expected at Le Mans next week.
