Supercars has announced it will hold two events in New Zealand starting next year, with Ruapuna Raceway in Christchurch hosting the first-ever Supercars event on the South Island as part of a three-year deal. Thanks to the support of the New Zealand Government, ChristchurchNZ, Christchurch City Council, and the Canterbury Car Club, this dream will become a reality in 2026. Christchurch is a hub for motorsport, and Ruapuna Raceway has great potential, with the community excited to welcome Supercars for the first time. Ruapuna Raceway, a 3.33km circuit that opened in 1963, will undergo a significant upgrade for the event, with details yet to be confirmed but likely scheduled around the Taupō round in April as part of a two-week celebration of Kiwi motorsport.
