Haas has requested written clarification from the FIA regarding the disqualification of Oliver Bearman from Formula 1’s Emilia Romagna GP qualifying due to a red-flag incident. Bearman’s lap time, which seemed to secure a spot in Q2, was nullified after a crash by Franco Colapinto led to a red flag. Despite Haas’ belief that Bearman’s time should have counted, stewards ruled otherwise, prompting Haas to seek a detailed explanation from the FIA. The team has also inquired about measures to prevent similar situations in the future. Bearman, who was displeased with the decision, stated that he crossed the line before the red flag was displayed and felt the disqualification was unjust. The FIA defended its ruling, stating that timing data confirmed the lap invalidity. Bearman’s contention remains that the decision was unfair.
