Formula 1 points leader Max Verstappen took his first Miami Grand Prix pole position by seeing off a challenge from Charles Leclerc in qualifying on Saturday
Max Verstappen secured his first pole position at the Miami Grand Prix by edging out Charles Leclerc in a thrilling qualifying session. Despite not improving his time on his final Q3 push, Verstappen managed to stay ahead of Leclerc by 0.141s. Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez, also improved in Q3, claiming fourth on the grid. McLaren’s Lando Norris outqualified Oscar Piastri, with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton opting for medium tyres in Q3. Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top 10, while Lance Stroll continued to outshine Fernando Alonso in qualifying. Alpine showed promise but missed out on Q3, with Pierre Gasly shining over Esteban Ocon. Daniel Ricciardo struggled in qualifying, with a disappointing 18th place finish.
