Resilience in Adversity: WEC Delivers Powerful Message Ahead of Season Opener in the Face of Middle East Crisis

The World Endurance Championship has published a statement as the crisis in the Middle East unfolds.

“The FIA World Endurance Championship is closely monitoring the escalating Middle East conflict as uncertainty surrounds the season opener in Qatar scheduled for next month.

The pre-season Prologue test and Qatar 1812km race at Lusail International Circuit are still on the calendar, with activities set to start in less than three weeks.

The ongoing military action involving the US, Israel, and Iran has raised doubts about the feasibility of the Gulf state events.

Missile and drone attacks in Doha have led to widespread airspace closures and temporary shutdowns of regional airports.

The FIA WEC is in constant communication with Qatari authorities to assess the situation and ensure the safety of everyone involved.

Postponing or cancelling the Qatar events would pose logistical challenges, as teams and equipment are already in the region.

Regular evaluations of the situation are being conducted, with updates to follow as needed.”
