The Mercedes boss is keen for the FIA not to overstep with its looming F1 changes.
Toto Wolff emphasized the importance of safeguarding the integrity of Formula 1 to the FIA as the ADUO engine changes approach. The Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities (ADUO) initiative is set to start soon, with the FIA assessing the engine performance of the five manufacturers. Teams lagging up to 2% behind will receive one upgrade chance, while those 4% behind will get two opportunities. Leading manufacturer Mercedes HPP, with three wins in the first three races, will not be permitted upgrades under the current regulations. Wolff urged the FIA to ensure ADUO remains a catch-up, not leapfrog, mechanism to maintain fairness in the competition and preserve the sport’s integrity.
