Construction of the new Qiddiya F1 track began in 2024, and now new photos of the work being carried out have been shared.
Fresh images of the Qiddiya Speed Park Track have been shared as construction progresses on the track scheduled to be added to the calendar from 2028. The circuit plans were revealed two years ago and are part of a megaproject funded by the Saudi Arabian government. While Jeddah has been hosting the F1 in Saudi Arabia since 2021, Qiddiya aims to take over hosting duties soon. Qiddiya itself is still under construction, including the circuit that will go through it. The circuit, designed by Herman Tilke and Alexander Wurz, will have 21 corners and become the longest circuit on the F1 calendar, surpassing Spa-Francorchamps. Construction of the circuit began in 2024 with an estimated cost of $480 million, highlighting the first corner, The Blade, planned to stand above a concert hall at a height of over 70 meters with a 10-degree gradient. Current photos display the progress on the construction of this outstanding first curve, including an aerial view of the Hotel Section, a narrow and winding part of the track near hotel complexes.
