Red Bull Braces for High-Stakes Move Following Max Verstappen’s High-Speed Mishap

Max Verstappen’s Miami Grand Prix took a dramatic turn on the opening lap when he suffered a high-speed spin.

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies acknowledged the team had to take a “risk” with their strategy after Max Verstappen’s opening-lap spin. Verstappen lost positions following the incident with Charles Leclerc. A safety car period was initiated later due to incidents involving Red Bull drivers Isack Hadjar, Liam Lawson, and Pierre Gasly. Red Bull opted for an early pit stop for Verstappen, who then completed the race on hard tires. Mekies admitted the team had to make strategic decisions due to being out of position post lap one. Verstappen finished fifth with a time penalty, but Mekies was relieved the race remained dry as rain was initially predicted.
