Laurent Mekies has addressed the F1 pecking order, and he does not believe Red Bull can currently compete with its rivals.
Red Bull boss Laurent Mekies acknowledged that Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren seem to have a significant speed advantage over Red Bull as the F1 season begins. Despite the promising results during pre-season testing in Bahrain, Mekies emphasized the need to temper expectations for the RB22 in the upcoming races. The first test saw Red Bull being a surprise package, with Mercedes initially claiming the lead in performance. During the second test, where Red Bull seemed less impressive, Mekies reiterated that Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren are currently faster. Although the exact performance difference is difficult to determine, Mekies stressed that the competition will evolve as teams refine their cars. Overall, Red Bull sees Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren as leading the pack in terms of speed.
