Sergio Perez received a penalty from the stewards at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for an unsafe release during his pit-stop. The incident occurred under the first safety car period, which was triggered by Lance Stroll’s heavy crash at Turn 22 on lap six. Perez, initially in second place, was released from the pit box in front of Fernando Alonso, prompting a complaint from Alonso over the radio and quick investigation by the stewards. Perez was handed a five-second time penalty, to be added to his final time if he doesn’t pit again at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Additionally, Kevin Magnussen received a 10-second penalty, while Lando Norris was cleared of a false start. Stroll and Pierre Gasly are the only drivers to retire from the race so far.
