Resilience Personified: Pascal Wehrlein’s Remarkable Return to Pole Position in Formula E Berlin

Pascal Wehrlein suffered a puncture in the opening race of Formula E’s Berlin double-header, but has claimed pole for the second race.

Pascal Wehrlein recovered from a disappointing first race at Formula E’s Berlin E-Prix to secure pole position for the second race, extending Porsche’s success at their home event following Nico Müller’s maiden victory. The Season 10 world champion triumphed over DS Penske’s Taylor Barnard in the final duel, earning three crucial championship points. Nick Cassidy and Joel Eriksson completed the second row in third and fourth places at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport Circuit.

Wehrlein was the favored contender in the final, showing strong form throughout qualifying. He outpaced Barnard in the duel after a tense battle, with Wehrlein finishing pole position, just 0.038 seconds ahead. Wehrlein’s path to the final included victories over former teammate da Costa and Eriksson. Meanwhile, Barnard overcame Felipe Drugovich and Cassidy on his way to the final. In the group stage, higher temperatures and tire management strategies saw surprise eliminations of Mortara and Müller, while Cassidy set the fastest time in the opening group. The top four progressing to the duels included Barnard, Drugovich, Vergne, alongside Cassidy. In contrast, Eriksson and Maloney advanced from the second group, with da Costa and Wehrlein comfortably securing their spots at the top of the group standings.
