Danger on the Track: Miami Grand Prix Braces for High-Stakes F1 Showdown

The Miami Grand Prix on Sunday could be an extremely wet race, if current forecasts are anything to go by.

The Miami Grand Prix is at risk of heavy thunderstorms on the day of the race and the return of the F1 action this Sunday.

Current forecasts show that heavy thunderstorms are expected to pass through the city on Sunday morning just before the race starts at 16:00 local time for round four of the 2026 season.

The thunderstorms will move through the afternoon from the north-west to the south-east, affecting Cuba, the Bahamas, and eventually dissipating over the Atlantic Ocean.

The system originated in the Rockies near Denver, Colorado, and will impact several eastern seaboard states before reaching Miami for the race.

In 2025, thunderstorms also affected the Sprint race in Miami, causing a delay in the race start under extreme weather conditions.

Despite the potential for thunderstorms, the track is expected to dry quickly after the rain stops, ensuring a challenging but thrilling race for the drivers.
