F1 testing has now concluded following a two-day outing for Mercedes and McLaren.
Mercedes outperformed McLaren during a special Pirelli F1 tyre test at the Nurburgring, using their regular race drivers over two days. Pirelli conducted the test to evaluate dry-weather compounds for 2027, with Mercedes and McLaren providing cars for the evaluation. The test is a collaboration where Pirelli dictates the run-plans, keeping the drivers and teams unaware of the specifics to gather unbiased feedback. Lando Norris and Kimi Antonelli took over from Oscar Piastri and George Russell on the second day, testing various tyre compounds. Antonelli managed to set a quicker time than Norris, completing more laps and kilometers during the test session. Pirelli plans to continue tyre testing, including wet-weather evaluation at Magny Cours in May and another dry-weather assessment after the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix in June.
