McLaren make ‘critical’ signing to aid F1 car development
McLaren has recently entered into a significant multi-year partnership with Intel as the official computing partner for its Formula 1 and IndyCar operations, and also covering F1 sim racing activities.
This collaboration will enhance McLaren’s data processing capabilities, turning telemetry into actionable insights through a secure and scalable compute foundation provided by Intel.
The partnership will introduce cutting-edge edge computing solutions to the track, enabling real-time analytics crucial for race day decisions.
Intel’s branding will first appear on McLaren F1 cars at the Canadian Grand Prix, later on an Arrow McLaren car at the Freedom 250 in Washington DC, and expand to the Indianapolis 500 in 2027.
Simultaneously, in sim racing, Intel’s branding will be featured on McLaren’s stage simulators and virtual livery, starting from 2027.
By combining Intel’s semiconductor expertise with McLaren’s racing prowess, the alliance is centered on performance innovation rather than mere sponsorship, supporting McLaren’s quest for championship success in both IndyCar and Formula 1 racing.
