Max Verstappen did have to discuss his participation in this weekend’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring Qualifiers at home, especially with his long-time partner, Kelly Piquet.
Max Verstappen shared Kelly Piquet’s reaction upon learning he would still be racing in April despite F1 cancellations. This month marks the first time since the pandemic-hit 2020 season that there are no F1 grands prix in April due to cancellations in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia amidst conflicts in the Middle East. While most F1 drivers have had downtime, both Lance Stroll and Verstappen have kept busy – Stroll raced in a GT race, and Verstappen is gearing up for the Nürburgring 24-hour event. Verstappen had discussions with his family about his racing commitments, especially when Piquet assumed the cancellations meant more free time. Despite being away for the Nürburgring race, Verstappen ensures he makes up for lost time with his partner and believes they are compensating well for the time spent apart.
