Max Verstappen and many of his peers in F1 live in Monaco, making the round in Monte Carlo somewhat of a home grand prix — and the Dutchman can see the funny side to a possible DNF.
Max Verstappen joked about crashing into the barriers outside his Monaco home during the grand prix to get back to his residence quickly. He has been living in Monaco since late 2015, making the Monaco Grand Prix somewhat of a home race for the four-time F1 champion. Driving the Circuit de Monaco means he will literally pass his own front door during the upcoming days. Despite the personal connection, he mentioned that the Monaco round doesn’t carry extra significance for him, seeing it as a race to secure points. Verstappen has twice won in Monaco and is familiar with the streets, but he’s not a big fan of street circuits, noting that the Nürburgring Nordschleife holds more appeal for him. He acknowledged that feeling comfortable in the car could make a difference on the track, but remains cautious about his comfort level for this race.
