Max Verstappen and Lucas Auer finished outside the top ten in the second qualifying session at the Nordschleife.
Max Verstappen qualified outside the top 10 during the second qualifying practice session from the Nordschleife, which took place on Sunday morning. The on-track action resumed one day after the tragic death of Juha Miettinen, who passed away while competing on Saturday during the first race of the weekend. On behalf of Team Verstappen, Lucas Auer got behind the wheel during the opening phase of qualifying practice. Auer initially held 15th place, but improved considerably in his second run, moving up to second position with a lap time of 9:12. Halfway through the session, Auer handed over the wheel to Verstappen, who set an impressive pace immediately. Verstappen’s strong showing was cut short after one lap, as he did not return to the track. Despite being bumped out of the top 10 by competitors switching to slick tyres, Verstappen will still participate in ‘Top Qualifying’ later in the day at 10:40 local time.
