Eddie Irvine has pointed out a significant disadvantage facing Ferrari, having raced for the team between 1996 and 1999.
Former Ferrari driver Eddie Irvine has expressed skepticism about Ferrari’s chances of challenging for the F1 title in 2026, despite noting improvements from the previous season. Irvine highlighted structural disadvantages that hinder Ferrari’s championship aspirations, attributing them to the team’s distance from the UK, the hub of Formula 1. Although Ferrari has shown better overall competitiveness this season compared to 2025, when they struggled with car balance and tire management, they have yet to clinch a victory. Irvine, who narrowly missed out on the 1999 drivers’ championship, suggested that Ferrari could potentially secure at least one win this year, a modest improvement from the past.
