After five grands prix under F1’s new regulatory era, Lewis Hamilton is adamant that F1 is “not what motorsport should be”.
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen agree that Formula 1 is not meeting the standards of what motorsport should be, with Verstappen even considering leaving if changes are not made for the next season. Despite finding joy in racing at the Canadian Grand Prix and finishing on the podium, Verstappen remains critical of the sport’s complexities. He believes F1 should be more pure and less reliant on electrical energy. Hamilton, although happy with his performance in Canada, also feels that the current power system in F1 lacks the thrill of older engine designs. Both champions share a sentiment that while the racing under new rules may be enjoyable, the power dynamics in F1 are not as exhilarating as they used to be in the past.
