The 21 year-old failed to secure the title after a dramatic high speed crash at Suzuka in the first race put him on the back foot.
Liam Lawson finished as the runner-up in the Super Formula title race at Suzuka, losing to Ritomo Miyata. Lawson’s chances were hampered by a crash during the first race due to Hiroki Otsu and Ukyo Sasahara colliding. Despite starting from seventh on the grid, Lawson managed to climb up to sixth before the race was stopped. In the final race, Lawson finished second, but it wasn’t enough to surpass Miyata, who won the title by eight points. Lawson expressed disappointment but also recognized the hard work and support of his team.
