Lando Norris learns stewards’ verdict after Miami GP sprint pole threat

Lando Norris was summoned to see the F1 stewards after sprint qualifying on Friday.

Lando Norris was summoned to the stewards for the Miami Grand Prix Sprint race but ultimately avoided a penalty on Friday evening. He secured pole position by beating championship leader Kimi Antonelli by two-tenths of a second. Norris was initially flagged for “driving unnecessarily slowly” at Turn 17, which could have impeded Nico Hulkenberg’s Audi. After hearing from Norris, the stewards concluded he did not merit a penalty. They determined that despite a brief deviation from the required time limit, Norris did not drive excessively slow. As a result, Norris’s pole position remains valid, and he will start at the front of the grid, followed by Antonelli and Oscar Piastri.
