F1’s youngest championship leader encountered an issue in the single practice session at the Miami International Autodrome.
This weekend’s Formula 1 session showcased fierce competition among Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes. Ferrari’s Leclerc and Mercedes’ Hamilton impressed with first and fourth fastest times, flanking Verstappen and Piastri in between. Mercedes faced power unit troubles with Antonelli, leaving him fifth in the rankings.
Leclerc continued to shine as the youngest championship leader, showing strength until the late session when most switched to soft tires. Ferrari’s Antonelli also encountered a power unit issue during the Miami Grand Prix practice session. A 90-minute session was chosen over the usual hour due to the extended break and technical changes.
Most teams, including McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull, introduced aerodynamic updates, while Mercedes opted for minimal changes. Leclerc dominated the session with a time of 1:29.310s, ahead of Verstappen by 0.297s. Hamilton faced traffic issues and finished 0.467s behind Leclerc, with Piastri also outperforming him.
