Kimi Antonelli has implored Mercedes to “keep raising the bar” after McLaren took chunks out of the team’s advantage at the Miami Grand Prix.
19-year-old Kimi Antonelli has urged Mercedes to continue their relentless development push following McLaren’s significant upgrade package at the Miami Grand Prix, which posed a threat to the front of the grid.
Despite securing his third consecutive pole position and victory in Florida, Antonelli was cautious of McLaren’s performance leap displayed by their latest technical package, which was a stark contrast to the previous rounds.
Lando Norris claimed sprint pole in Florida, resulting in a 1-2 finish for McLaren in the one-third distance race, with Oscar Piastri finishing in second place, as Norris challenged Antonelli throughout the Grand Prix.
After his impressive performance at the Miami International Autodrome, the young Italian emphasized the importance for the Brackley-based team to avoid complacency despite their strong start to the season.
Antonelli expressed confidence in the W17 car but acknowledged McLaren’s significant progress, stating the need for Mercedes to keep pushing and raising the bar to maintain their position at the top of the grid following the substantial shift in performance compared to previous races.
