Kimi Antonelli has revealed how his relationships with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have changed in F1 this season.
Kimi Antonelli has stated that Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen no longer provide him with advice in his second F1 season, as Mercedes has regained prominence. Despite leading the drivers’ championship with 72 points and winning his first two grand prix races, Antonelli disclosed in an interview with BILD that the two world champions have stopped offering guidance, indicating a shift in dynamic due to his increased competitiveness on track. Hamilton had previously mentored Antonelli as part of the Mercedes junior programme before the Italian joined Ferrari, imparting wisdom about staying true to oneself and finding enjoyment in racing to maintain speed amidst pressure. Antonelli’s strong performances, including two pole positions and wins in the first three races, have propelled him to becoming the youngest driver to lead the championship and the first teenager to do so. With George Russell as his teammate, who is currently second in the standings, Antonelli recognizes him as both a companion and a competitor, creating a friendly yet competitive relationship in the Mercedes garage as they navigate the internal battles of the 2026 season.
