Honda has been trying to find solutions to the problem affecting Aston Martin.
Honda performed extensive tests prior to the Miami Grand Prix in order to address the severe vibration issue affecting Aston Martin. Adrian Newey expressed concern that Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll were at risk of permanent nerve damage due to the vibrations from the Honda power unit transferring to the Aston Martin chassis. Despite retiring in China due to vibrations, Alonso managed to finish the third round in Japan after implementing countermeasures. Honda decided to keep a chassis in Japan post-Suzuka race to focus on reducing vibrations and improving reliability. Although progress has been made, trackside general manager Shintaro Orihara stated that the improvements won’t be evident during the Miami Grand Prix. Collaborative efforts with Aston Martin in Japan and the UK have been ongoing, with further countermeasures planned for the upcoming races to enhance reliability. Ultimately, the progress may not result in a significant performance boost on the track, tempering expectations for immediate improvements in power unit performance.
