Franco Colapinto ‘finds feet’ as major decision brings Alpine reward

The Argentine finished the Miami Grand Prix in seventh place – the best result of his career thus far.

Franco Colapinto believes that the introduction of a new chassis by Alpine for him at the Miami Grand Prix played a crucial role in achieving the best result by an Argentine driver in 44 years. With a new A526 chassis from Team Enstone, Colapinto qualified in the top 10 for both the Sprint and the main race, finishing 10th in the shorter event. Out-qualifying Gasly for a Grand Prix for the first time since the 2025 Singapore GP, Colapinto finished eighth, his best result since the 2024 Azerbaijan GP with Williams.

Thanks to Charles Leclerc’s penalty, Colapinto was bumped up to seventh, the best result for an Argentine driver in a Grand Prix since 1982. Colapinto hailed his weekend as the most perfect one yet, praising the team’s efforts in developing the car and providing upgrades, including the new chassis. The performance in Miami marked Colapinto’s second points finish of the season, showcasing the progress of the resurgent Alpine team. The new chassis played a crucial role in enabling Colapinto to demonstrate his speed and improve his performance, making everything easier when the pace is there.
