The change will be in effect throughout the entire Australian Grand Prix weekend in Melbourne.
The Australian Grand Prix has made a significant change for this year’s event, with the addition of an 11th team, Cadillac, as they make their grand prix debut. This change has necessitated a reduction in the pit lane speed limit from 80 km/h to 60 km/h to accommodate the increased personnel in the pit lane. While this adjustment may impact strategic decisions, the event’s chief events officer, Tom Mottram, acknowledged the challenge of the congested pit lane due to the smaller pit building and limited space. Despite these temporary measures, the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park retains a long-term contract to host F1, suggesting that the current adjustments may be a short-term compromise. Mottram highlighted the excitement that will come with the inclusion of Cadillac, emphasizing that the smaller pitlane speed limit is a worthwhile trade-off for the thrill of welcoming the 11th team to the championship.
