F1 urged to make immediate changes following frightening crash

It was an accident that threw an uncomfortable spotlight on the new regulations for this season.

F1 and the FIA have been urged to make immediate changes to the new regulations for this season after Oliver Bearman’s frightening crash in the Japanese Grand Prix. Bearman had a lucky escape with just a knee contusion after a high-speed impact with a barrier at Sukuka dodging Franco Colapinto. The incident highlighted a racing safety concern the FIA overlooked despite driver warnings. Bearman faced a significant closing-speed difference with Colapinto due to different energy settings. The post-race discussion emphasized the danger posed by the new power units in close racing. F1 fans, in a RacingNews365 poll, overwhelmingly called for prompt FIA action before the Miami race in May to prevent a recurrence. The poll showed 84.29% agreeing that the regulations needed adjustment, citing Bearman’s crash as a warning sign.
