The name of Cadillac’s first F1 car is here, and its in tribute to a motorsport legend!
Cadillac recently announced the name of their first-ever Formula 1 chassis as the MAC-26, in honor of motorsport legend Mario Andretti. Andretti, the only driver to win the F1 world championship, Indianapolis 500, and Daytona 500, as well as four IndyCar titles, will celebrate his 86th birthday tomorrow. The team sees this tribute as a way to recognize Andretti’s legacy and set a standard for excellence as they gear up for their debut season. Andretti himself described the gesture as the “ultimate compliment” and appreciated the lasting connection it creates with F1. Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss highlighted how Andretti’s inspiring story shapes the team’s approach to building success, with team principal Graeme Lowdon noting Andretti’s legend status and the honor of having the Cadillac F1 car bear his name.
