Aston Martin has bolstered its driving roster with an up-and-coming Chinese star
Aston Martin has signed Zhenrui Chi, considered ‘one of China’s most promising drivers’, to its Academy. This move comes after Formula 1 lost its Chinese driver on the grid with the departure of Zhou Guanyu from Sauber in 2024. Zhou later joined Ferrari as a reserve driver and then moved to Cadillac in the same role. Zhenrui’s signing by Aston Martin follows a detailed selection process, with his impressive performance in the 2025 Italian F4 championship standing out. The 17-year-old will now compete in Formula Regional and represent Aston Martin with their livery.
Zhenrui expressed his excitement and sense of responsibility, stating that he is ready to work hard and prove himself deserving of this opportunity. Nuno Pinto, the racing director of Aston Martin Academy, praised Zhenrui’s talent and consistency, highlighting the support and resources the team will provide for his development. This long-term partnership aims to help Zhenrui continue his growth as a racing driver under the guidance of Aston Martin’s program.
