Critique and Clarity: Analyzing Aston Martin’s Insight into Fernando Alonso’s ‘Pressure Point’

Aston Martin is slowly working through its problems, but now has another surrounding the seat in the AMR26.

Aston Martin’s chief trackside officer Mike Krack has suggested that Fernando Alonso’s retirement from the Canadian Grand Prix was likely due to back pain caused by his seat pushing against a “pressure point.”

Despite having back-related pain for some time, Alonso decided to retire only after realizing rain wouldn’t come, eliminating Aston Martin’s shot at a strong finish.

If he had been closer to the front, Alonso might have endured the pain to finish the race, but with no need to risk it at the back, he retired.

The team believes the driving position, potentially too low, may have exacerbated the issue, leading drivers to almost recline fully in the cockpit.

Krack mentioned the need for a reevaluation of the seat’s positioning considering the discomfort Alonso had been experiencing.
