Aston Martin’s Ambitious Statement: Adrian Newey Makes F1 Comeback Look ‘Very Easy’

Aston Martin is rooted to the bottom of the F1 pecking order after a troubled pre-season.

Aston Martin ambassador Pedro de la Rosa attributes the team’s challenging pre-season to Adrian Newey’s delayed arrival. The team faced setbacks during testing due to issues with the Honda power unit, affecting the Newey-designed AMR26. Honda identified vibration-related battery damage and is working on solutions for the upcoming races. Despite the setbacks, Aston Martin lag behind other teams in developing their 2026 car due to Newey’s late transition from Red Bull. De la Rosa stresses that dwelling on excuses like Newey’s late arrival or Honda’s operational restart in 2021 won’t help in motorsport. Instead, the focus should be on addressing current issues and moving forward to improve performance progressively.
