Australian driver Oscar Piastri finished the first day of the Australian Grand Prix as the fastest driver on the timesheets in front of the home crowd.
Piastri secured the top spot in the second practice session at Albert Park with a time of 1:19.729, beating Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli by just over two-tenths of a second.
The Silver Arrows team saw George Russell in third place, followed by Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc rounding up the top five in the practice session.
Max Verstappen and current world champion Lando Norris claimed the sixth and seventh positions, while Sergio Perez of Cadillac couldn’t set a timed lap during the session.
