Rasmussen edges Simpson in Indy NXT Portland practice
Christian Rasmussen claimed the top spot in the opening practice session for the 2023 ndy NXT by Firestone championship at the Grand Prix of Portland. Rasmussen, from Denmark, set the fastest lap time of 1m2.8194s in his No. 6 HMD Motorsports with DCR car. With three races remaining, Rasmussen holds a 50-point lead over Hunter McElrea in the standings, having won three of the last four races. The next practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Saturday, followed by the 35-lap race on Sunday. Rasmussen and the rest of the field will aim to break the track record set by Pato O’Ward in 2018. Kyffin Simpson returned to the series after missing one race and finished second in practice. McElrea and Louis Foster took third and fourth places, respectively. Jacob Abel completed the top five.
