Italian racer Luca Ghiotto, who competes in the ELMS series and has Formula 2 experience, will drive Dale Coyne Racing’s No. 51 car at Barber Motorsports Park and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Ghiotto, with a career highlight of finishing third in the F2 championship in 2019, transitioned to sportscars in 2020 and currently races in ELMS’s LMP2 class with Inter Europol. He previously worked as a test and simulator driver for the Nissan Formula E team in 2022-2023. Ghiotto expressed excitement for his NTT IndyCar Series debut, acknowledging the challenge of adapting to the new car and the unfamiliar tracks. Despite the steep learning curve, DCR owner Dale Coyne believes Ghiotto’s diverse racing background will aid in his transition to IndyCar, with the team looking forward to his contributions in the upcoming races. Ghiotto will hit the track for the first time on April 25 at Barber Motorsports Park and will be the third driver to race the No. 51 car this season, with Katherine Legge set to take over for the Indianapolis 500.
