Hello! It’s been a while since my last blog, but I’m excited to finally provide an update. This year has been filled with learning experiences, surprises, and unforgettable memories. I’ve competed in three race events, two on street courses and one at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Each event has had its own unique story. Starting in March, I raced in the nimble USF2000 machine in St. Petersburg, while in July, I tackled the streets of downtown Chicago in a powerful NASCAR Xfinity Series car. My journey from St. Pete to Chicago and my transition from open-wheelers to stock car racing were far from straightforward. At the beginning of the season, I had no ride and was reaching out to anyone who could offer me a race car. Fortunately, Future Star Racing agreed to run me in the USF2000 series, but we had limited testing due to mechanical issues. Despite the challenges, we qualified impressively and had a strong start to the weekend. However, a gear shifting issue impacted my performance in Race 1, and I couldn’t start Race 2. Sadly, that was my last opportunity to race in the USF Pro Championships for 2023, but I had a new plan in mind. Upon hearing about the NASCAR Xfinity Series coming to Chicago, I contacted my alma mater, the University of Chicago, and proposed driving a UChicago-sponsored car. With the help of the university’s hospitals, we put together a contract, and I would be racing the No.34 University of Chicago Chevrolet for Jesse Iwuji Motorsports. This was a significant opportunity, and with the entire city and the motorsports world watching, I knew I was on the verge of something special.
