WRC drivers expect "big challenge" in Japan from scattered leaves, pine needles
Following the recce earlier this week, drivers have noticed a significant amount of leaves and pine needles covering the asphalt stages. The road conditions are worse than last year, with some teams describing it as driving on ice. Unfortunately, rain is expected on Friday, which will complicate matters further. Efforts have been made to clear some of the leaves using leaf blowers, and drivers have requested a decision on cleaning the roads. Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala believes Friday will be about survival, as the conditions are challenging, and patience will be required from the drivers.
