Verstappen’s honesty about F1 Las Vegas GP “refreshing” – Horner
Max Verstappen expressed his criticism of the emphasis on off-track entertainment during the race, feeling that it lacked the passion of a traditional race track. His comments were supported by fans on social media, including supporters of Lewis Hamilton. While Verstappen was not entirely comfortable with the additional activities, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner praised his willingness to embrace the spirit of the event by donning an Elvis Presley suit and singing “Viva Las Vegas” on the in-lap, noting that it commanded respect. Horner believed Verstappen enjoyed the race and acknowledged its importance for Formula 1, but also acknowledged that Verstappen felt uneasy with the show element. Verstappen himself admitted that he couldn’t back out of singing Presley’s hit after being put on the spot by his boss, and overall, he found the race to be enjoyable.
