While Alex Marquez accepts Ducati’s decision not to provide upgrades for his MotoGP bike, his brother Marc insists that at Aragon the bikes were “identical.”
Marc Marquez joined the Gresini team last season, riding a Ducati GP23 alongside Alex, while other factory riders received upgrades on the GP24. This year, Marc leads the championship standings with four wins, replacing Bastianini, while Alex is a satellite team rider in the title fight.
Despite not receiving upgrades, Alex acknowledges Ducati’s policy of providing the same component to all riders with the same bike. He believes that upgrades wouldn’t significantly impact his performance and is motivated by Marc’s speed.
Meanwhile, Marc downplays the significance of racing against a rival with the same top-tier equipment, emphasizing the team’s focus on testing to increase the gap. At Aragon, the brothers raced on identical bikes, with Marc ultimately taking the victory and restoring Ducati’s dominance.
