Satellite Honda rider Johann Zarco expressed his strong interest in taking Luca Marini’s factory seat in 2026. Zarco hinted at positive negotiations with Honda and highlighted the importance of being honest with his current boss, Lucio Cecchinello, about his career aspirations. Despite leading Honda’s resurgence with an independent RC213V, Zarco remains focused on moving up to the factory team.
With 43 points, Zarco currently ranks 7th in the championship, ahead of Marini and Mir. He emphasized his desire to become a top rider for Honda, citing previous successes and ongoing discussions with the team. While Zarco aims for the factory seat, Marini has also begun negotiations with Honda, sparking speculation about a potential rider switch between the two.
Despite missing out on testing the upgraded engine, Zarco remains optimistic about his performance at Le Mans, with improvements in place to support his goal. His LCR Honda teammate, Somkiat Chantra, will be absent from the upcoming race due to arm-pump surgery.
