Following Jorge Martin’s announcement of leaving Aprilia at the end of the year, his agent, Albert Valera, has become a prominent figure in the MotoGP paddock. Valera, a 40-year-old from the Maresme region near Barcelona, also represents rising star Pedro Acosta, whose future is tied to KTM’s financial situation.
Despite his accidental entry into the rider agent role, Valera’s influence continues to grow, especially after securing significant deals for riders like Jorge Lorenzo and Jorge Martin. Lorenzo praised Valera’s intelligence and honesty, highlighting their successful partnership dating back to 2012 and the negotiation of high-profile contracts with Yamaha and Ducati.
Valera’s agency, Playmaker, has expanded to provide comprehensive services to his clients, including legal, financial, and communications support. With a reputation for pulling off challenging deals, Valera is now seen as a key player in the MotoGP rider market, shaping the future of top talents like Martin and Acosta.
