NASCAR held two practice sessions on Friday at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, with Cup drivers learning the road course. In the first session, there were incidents like Gragson hitting the wall, Ware and Hocevar spinning out, and McDowell setting the fastest lap. A shorter second session followed, with Gibbs having a wild spin and Gilliand clocking the fastest lap overall. Suarez, the only Mexican-born Cup driver, finished 12th in the first practice and ninth in the second. Bell, Chastain, and Buescher led the ten-lap average category. Gilliand expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and hopes for continued success in the upcoming races.
