Following the incident in Barcelona, Max Verstappen is close to facing a one-race ban in Formula 1 due to accumulating penalty points.
He received a 10-second penalty and three penalty points for colliding with George Russell during the Spanish Grand Prix.
Verstappen now has 11 points in a 12-month period, near the threshold of a ban, and must avoid further penalties in the next rounds.
The Dutch driver’s points will decrease over time, but he remains at risk until late October.
Speculation arises on who would replace Verstappen if he misses a race, with Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson being potential candidates from Red Bull’s junior team.
