“Sergio Perez is being pursued by multiple F1 teams for the 2026 season, including Alpine, Mercedes, and Cadillac, with negotiations at different stages for each. Alpine and Mercedes have shown interest in signing Perez, with discussions involving various factors still ongoing.
At Alpine, Perez’s name has been previously considered, especially during his time with the team when it was known as Renault, hinting at a potential reunion. The team is currently undergoing changes in management and sponsorships, with potential opportunities for Perez pending an agreement.
Conversely, Mercedes is eyeing Perez as a possible replacement for George Russell, pending a move by Max Verstappen to the team which could create an opening. Toto Wolff has expressed admiration for Perez’s development skills and teamwork abilities, making him a contender for the Mercedes seat if circumstances align.
On the other hand, Cadillac is also in the running to secure Perez’s signature, valuing his track record in car development and substantial support from sponsors in the U.S. Despite rumors, Perez has yet to finalize a deal with any team, keeping all options open until a final decision is made.”
