Reigning Super Formula champion Sho Tsuboi is hopeful that Toyota’s partnership with the Haas Formula 1 team could lead to fulfilling his dream of testing grand prix machinery. Tsuboi’s success last year has positioned him as a likely candidate for Haas’s TPC programme, which involves testing of previous-generation F1 cars. The Toyota TOM’S team driver has solidified his reputation as a top driver in Japan by winning both the Super Formula and SUPER GT titles. The collaboration between Toyota and Haas has already seen Ryo Hirakawa participate as Haas’s reserve driver and in free practice sessions during select grand prix weekends. Tsuboi, who recently turned 30, is now considering the possibility of testing an F1 car, a dream he has held since childhood, thanks to his recent achievements in Japanese racing. He views the partnership between Toyota and Haas as a potential opportunity to move closer to his ultimate goal of becoming an F1 driver.
