Kalle Rovanpera has disclosed the reasons behind his retirement from the Acropolis Rally Greece, which disrupted his progress in the World Rally Championship title fight. Despite sitting in seventh place, he encountered difficulties driving his GR Yaris effectively throughout the rally, and encountered a critical moment on Stage 11 [Pavliani, 24.58km]. The Finnish driver explained that a mixture of driver error and a mechanical problem led to his unexpected exit from the rally. Rovanpera overshot a tight right-hand corner due to braking too late, leaving his GR Yaris stranded until spectators assisted in getting the car back on track. Although he initially continued at a reduced pace, the car suffered irreparable damage, forcing him to stop. Despite the setback, Rovanpera hopes to recoup some points on Super Sunday and remains optimistic about the upcoming rallies providing better opportunities for success.
