Suarez wins L.A. NASCAR Mexico race: "This really means a lot"
Despite failing to qualify for the Clash in Los Angeles, Daniel Suarez had a busy day ahead as he also entered the NASCAR Mexico Series exhibition race that followed. This race held special significance for Suarez, as it marked his return to his stock car racing roots in the series where he first started. Suarez went on to make history by becoming the first-ever Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race in 2022. Throughout the Mexico Series race, Suarez demonstrated strategic racing, conserving his resources and capitalizing on opportunities. Despite not having the fastest car, he managed to secure the lead with 30 laps remaining and held on to claim victory ahead of Santiago Tovar and Alex de Alba. In his post-race interview, Suarez expressed his gratitude to NASCAR Mexico, fellow drivers, and fans for their support, emphasizing the significance of the Mexico Series in his career development.
