Strategic Maneuvers: IndyCar Races Towards Success with Schedule Adjustments on FOX

IndyCar has made significant changes to its schedule, including shifting the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at WWT Raceway to a Sunday night race on June 15. This primetime event will be broadcast on FOX, marking IndyCar’s first primetime Sunday night race on network TV in 2019. The change aims to provide a better racing experience for drivers with cooler temperatures and more on-track passes, enhancing the overall fan experience.

In addition to the WWT Raceway event, the start times for four other races in the second half of the season have been adjusted to avoid broadcast conflicts with NASCAR. Road America will begin at 1:30 p.m. on June 22, while Mid-Ohio and Iowa races on July 6 and July 13 will start at 1 p.m. ET. The Streets of Toronto race on July 20 will kick off at noon, creating better opportunities to build the IndyCar audience during these events.

IndyCar President Douglas Boles expressed excitement about the primetime showcase and emphasized the collaboration with FOX Sports and the World Wide Technology Raceway. These changes align with drivers’ preferences for night races and showcase the series’ commitment to providing top-tier racing experiences for fans both in-person and through broadcast. Together, these modifications aim to further grow IndyCar’s audience, with a 15 percent increase in average race viewership since the start of the partnership with Fox in 2025.
