Schubert BMW driver Marco Wittmann received a five-second penalty at the end of race two during DTM’s Zandvoort weekend, finishing ahead of third-placed Thomas Preining by just 0.005s despite the penalty. Wittmann was penalised for allegedly pushing Jack Aitken’s Ferrari wide at Turn 1 while completing an overtake on the opening lap. Despite the penalty, Wittmann was content with his second-place finish, as he challenged team-mate Rene Rast for the lead in the closing stages of the race. Wittmann acknowledged the challenges of overtaking at the tight and twisty Zandvoort circuit, expressing satisfaction with his performance overall. He currently sits sixth in the championship standings, 21 points behind the leader Lucas Auer, with the Norisring race weekend approaching on 5-6 July.
