Having competed in Formula 1 as Alfa Romeo between 2019 and 2023, Sauber will mark its 600th Grand Prix at Imola, highlighting its long-standing presence in the sport. Despite facing challenges that nearly led to business closure a decade ago, Sauber persevered and will transition into Audi for the upcoming season.
To honor this milestone, important moments from Sauber’s history have been selected to reflect the team’s journey, such as the 1993 South African Grand Prix where Lehto scored debut points after overcoming reliability issues. The Sauber C12, designed by Harvey Postlethwaite, stood out with its striking all-black livery and impressive speed on the track, despite financial uncertainties initially surrounding the team.
In another memorable event at the 1995 Italian Grand Prix, Frentzen secured Sauber’s first podium finish, showcasing the team’s growth and performance in just its third season in Formula 1. These moments exemplify the resilience and progress of Sauber as a competitive force in the world of motorsport.
